Angela James Plays the Ravenswood Farmers Market on 9/13

On Wednesday, September 13, singer-songwriter Angela James will perform a free concert at the Ravenswood Farmers Market (6:30 pm, 4900 N Damen Ave). As a preview of her appearance at the upcoming Ravenswood ArtWalk, James will play a special solo set of originals and covers of women songwriters from the 70s.

Born and raised in TN, with sojourns in Mississippi and Brazil, Angela James lives and performs in Chicago. While her voice evokes comparisons to classic artists Patsy Cline and Rosanne Cash, James’ emotionally forthright songwriting and experimental lean root her firmly in the present. Angela James’ music has been called “smoldering and gorgeous” by the Chicago Reader. Click here to listen for yourself.

Angela James returns to the Ravenswood ArtWalk on Saturday, September 16. For that performance, she’ll be backed by Bill MacKay on guitar, Jordan Martins on electric bass, and Seth Vanek on drums.
