The Greater Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce invites you to a Public Safety Meeting with the 19th Police District Council. Join us at The Perfect Cup on Thursday, April 11th at 11am for a discussion with your fellow local business professionals.
As community leaders in the neighborhood, your voice is important. We want to hear your ideas for what public safety and policing looks like. This meeting will focus on short term, immediate solutions to address the recent uptick of crime in the 19th District. After gathering your input and suggestions, the Council will meet with CPD to determine specific, measurable, and achievable goals to work towards bringing crime down in our community.
This event is free to attend. Because seating is limited, registration is required. Complimentary coffee will be provided and snacks will be available for purchase from our hosts, The Perfect Cup.
About the 19th Police District Council:
The 19th Police District Council is an elected body focused on issues related to policing and public safety. After years of community activism to make policing more responsive to community needs, in 2021 Chicago’s City Council established District Councils in each of Chicago’s 22 Police Districts.
The 19th Police District Council’s vision is to work as a community, advocating for a modernized vision of public safety and bringing forward solutions that address the root causes of crime- like investments in neighborhoods, housing, schools, and mental health. Therefore, the District Council is a tool for advancing innovative, research-based strategies to increase safety in our neighborhoods. It’s members also serve as community ambassadors to Chicago Police Department leaders and officers.
Additionally, the District Council works to include and elevate marginalized voices, empowering residents to drive changes in our public safety system. The Council does this by building strong relationships, enrolling experts, and connecting neighbors with one another and the resources available in our community.
