Saturday and Sunday, 11am - 6pm
Wayward Arts presents “Cadavre Exquis,” a group show based on the 1920s surrealists’ parlor activity of collaborative art and word play. Throughout the weekend of the ArtWalk, the gallery will host (clothed) models and invite participants to create their own exquisite corpse drawings, collages and paintings. Art supplies will be provided. Because the art created is collaborative, participants will receive a scanned image of their completed artworks. Originals will be sold by the gallery and all proceeds will go to fund future, arts programming at Wayward Arts.
Wayward Arts is a small art gallery showcasing primarily Chicago artists. While its range of art is diverse, the gallery intends to focus primarily on surreal art in the future. It is also home to Grotesque Burlesque, a sometimes bawdy, always welcoming, life drawing group that meets weekly on Thursdays, 7:30-10pm. The space welcomes low cost rentals to other arts groups for workshops, classes and gatherings.
