Dana Parisi is a painter, textile artist and sculptor. Her art practice includes BLOOM installations, paintings, and sculpture all inspired by the forms and bright colors of nature.
After initially painting on stretched canvas, she started fashioning canvas into sculptural installations she calls “BLOOM.” The canvas is hand-painted, then cut into petals and glued together to create flowers. Her installations began as street art encouraging climate change awareness. They are intended to evoke thoughts of barnacles and similar organic processes of life taking over manmade materials.
Even when dealing with heavy subjects, she brings joy and hope to the pieces through her use of vibrant colors. Along with her street art installations, her work has been commissioned for public and private spaces. Her art has been on display at the Frist Art Museum in Tennessee, and her work has been purchased by the Coca Cola Company.
