Ravenswood Metra Construction Update – Sept. 2020

The ongoing Metra bridge renovation project is about to enter its final stage, with the demolition of the old bridges from Grace to Balmoral. Concurrently, work on the new Ravenswood Metra Station is starting up again.

Beginning on Tuesday, September 15, crews will be replacing the fencing along the east side of the Metra embankment between Grace St and Lawrence Ave. The work will begin at Grace and continue north, and is anticipated to take about two months to complete.

Some trees that have grown into the existing fence, or are leaning over the tracks, will have to removed. Crews are doing their best to avoid tearing down trees, including shifting the fence line the avoid the larger ones. No fence replacement is necessary between Ainslie and Winnemac, so this will not impact the Winnslie Parkway.
