Meet the Comics

Janice is a regular at local comedy and storytelling showcases and has been invited to perform at a number of festivals, including Chicago Women’s Funny Festival, SheDot (Toronto), and LaughFest (Grand Rapids). Kellye Howard is a multi-hyphenated creative artist; primarily known for her stand up comedy performances. Featured on Last Comic Standing, FOX Laughs, Comedy Central, and a host of other TV shows, networks, podcasts, and festivals. As an actress, she co-starred on Chicago Fire, Empire, and is featured in the new Russo brothers movie Cherry released March 2021. Kellye’s latest venture is centered around self-empowerment; harnessing it, expressing it, and encouraging it in others. Intentionally propagating the idea that within ourselves is all the power we need to live the most rewarding and fulfilled life we all desire. Her podcast Be less Petty is an inviting and optimistic perspective using her personal experiences to question a variety of life’s— confusing, at time traumatic, but more often petty and even laughable— situations and emotions. New LIVE season coming to Twitch April 2021. Kellye encourages us all to Be less Petty because some shit…most shit, is just not that serious!
Gwen La Roka hit the comedy scene with an explosive energy that quickly led to performances at world famous comedy clubs such as The Laugh Factory, Zanies, The Improv, Second City, and The Icehouse. She has hosted for the legendary Paul Rodriguez and has also shared the stage with some of comedy’s most loved and respected comics, such as George Wallace, Felipe Esparza, Gina Yashere, Ralphie May, and Finesse Mitchell. Gwen La Roka; she is real, she is funny – she is real funny.
Dan Cass is a Chicago based comedian, producer, and writer who gets along with strangers more than himself. He grew up in a tiny town in Northern California and performed stand-up and stage acting for three years in the Bay Area before moving to Chicago. Dan’s material is mostly influenced by his daily isolation from social anxiety and constant curiosity to challenge and reveal truth. He produces a Variety Show at The Cards Against Humanity Theater in Chicago, produces a bi-weekly show called The Love Below Comedy Show, and has frequently performed at Zanies, The Laugh Factory, The Comedy Shrine, and many wonderful venues. Dan is a little strange, but extremely sweet, and wants to find a way to make your sadness a little more bearable, perhaps even joyful.
She’s single, bilingual, and ready to mingle… Well, she’s single. Jess Martínez is a Chicago-based comedian originally from the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. A graduate of both The Second City Training Center and Feminine Comique stand-up programs, Jess enjoys making audiences laugh as she genuinely tries to make sense of the world around her. In addition to performing at a variety of independent shows across the city, Jess is also the Co-Producer of Las Locas Comedy and Not a Party Productions and she’s the Assistant Producer at The Moth StorySLAM Chicago.
Ms. Brown is a Chicago-based comedian, singer, and host. Known for his rapid-fire tongue, incisive crowd work, and improvisational fancy, Ms. Brown can be seen performing at Lincoln Lodge, Laugh Factory, Comedy Bar, and other live performance venues throughout the Chicagoland area. Before starting stand up comedy in 2016, he trained to be a classical/Gospel singer and makeup artist.
Your Support Matters
Proceeds from this package support each participating business, as well as the Greater Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce. GRCC is a non-profit organization that relies heavily on special events to fund our work supporting local small businesses. When festivals like Ravenswood On Tap and Ravenswood ArtWalk were cancelled in 2020, we lost vital revenue. Now more than ever, your support has a huge impact on our mission to foster a vibrant, sustainable, hyper-local economy in Ravenswood.
