Susan Marie is a contemporary fine artist who resides in the Chicago area. Her art is deeply influenced by her own experiences in life and in the complexities, beauty, and adversities she has experienced along her journey. Born and raised in a small town in central Illinois, Susan remembers creating art since she was old enough to hold a crayon in her hand. Her love for the arts grew throughout her childhood and teenage years, as she became a very established french horn player who spent most of her youth playing with local symphonies and attending some of the best music camps in the midwest. This early passion and exposure to music has played a significant role in the context of much of her art throughout her life. Susan’s biggest influences come from her love for music, literature, poetry, and artists such as – Jasper Johns. William Kentridge, Chuck Close, Frida Kahlo, Sally Mann, Jenny Saville, Alyssa Monks, and Lucian Freud.
