Join us for an evening of community engagement and learn about green and sustainable practices in Ravenswood!
The folks over at Begyle Brewing are opening the doors to their brewery to host the RCC’s next Sustainable Speakers Series. The event will feature workshops, information and demonstrations from the following:
– Janice Thomson – Is a public consultant and expert on electricity among various topics. She will represent the Electric Community and the Chicago Conservation Corps (C3). Janice Will discuss the basics of our electrical system and how to make changes for a more sustainable way of producing and consuming energy.
– Harriet Festing – Is the Water Director for the Center for Neighborhood Technology (CNT). She will be ready to answer your questions and discuss various topics/issues surrounding water today. Some of these will include climate change, flooding, beach pollution and basement back-ups.
– Chicago Market – This is a movement for a northside community co-op. There are currently over 400 owners with a push for 1000 owners this fall. This neighborhood based grocery store will provide farm to table transparency about food, its origins and its processes. There will be two representatives on hand to answer any of your questions.
Admission gets visitors two Begyle brews, a self-guided brewery tour, plus access to a spread of tasty treats from the new-to-Ravenswood Mangal Bar and Grille.
